My research activities are linked to the project “Bee healthy”, an ERC research grant lead by Dr Fanny Mondet. This project aims to understand the mechanisms involved in the hygienic behaviour that honey bees (Apis mellifera) perform in order to defend their colonies against pathogens and parasites. This specific trait is a complex behaviour accomplished by specialized individuals involving chemical and behavioural communication processes. My focus is on the chemical ecology aspect of the project. We are using various methods such as VOCs collection via headspace sampling, liquid extraction, GC-MS analyses and field experiments.

I am also very interested in the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) control field and the development of new pest control methods using pheromones and natural enemies. I am also involved in the African Centre of Chemical Ecology (ACCE) with the purpose of promoting collaboration with researchers from Africa and the southern hemisphere.
